When Betelgeuse explodes, it will become bright enough to be visible even during the daytime. The Supernova of Betelgeuse will create a spectacular light show in the sky. The initial sign would be a sudden flood of neutrinos washing over Earth, detectable by observatories worldwide. Shortly after, as high-energy photons escape from the cloud of expanding stellar debris, Betelgeuse would exponentially brighten — up to 100,000 times its usual brightness — over the course of a week. Depending on the power of the explosion, this point of light could rival the full moon's brightness and even be visible during the day, casting sharp shadows at night. Stationed approximately 650 light-years away, we humans are ideally positioned to witness this cosmic spectacle from a prime vantage point. It is indeed one of the most awaited astronomical events.
