'New direction' for Liberals: Pat Farmer backs Julian Leeser for leadership if Yes wins

Former Liberal MP Pat Farmer says there will be a change in party leadership if the Yes vote gets up. His comments come after he explained “rusted-on supporters” for political parties have been largely responsible for the division seen in the lead-up to the Voice to Parliament referendum. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced his party’s stance against a constitutionally enshrined Voice on the fifth of April which saw several then-MPs quit as a result. “I think people like Julian Leeser will have to step up to the plate and show a new direction for the Party,” Mr Farmer told Sky News Australia. “If they don’t, the Liberal Party will feel this is a mandate for a way for them to go and they will continue down this track.”
