The White House has denied claims that its $US6 billion prisoner swap has funded the Hamas attack against Israel. More than 900 have been killed and thousands injured as Israel continues to fight the mass incursion of Hamas militants. The Biden administration in September secured a prisoner swap deal with Iran for five American detainees in Iran to be released in exchange for five Iranians held in America and Iran would also regain access to $US6 billion. White House spokesman John Kirby said, "if Iran tries to divert the funds we will take action and we’ll look them up again". “I want to be clear this is not a payment of any kind its not ransom, these aren’t US taxpayer's dollars and we haven’t lifted a single one of our sanctions on Iran, Iran will be getting no sanctions relief,” he said.
