'India Tunnel Collapse: Families' Frustration As Rescue Efforts Stall'. A desperate race to rescue 40 construction workers trapped in a collapsed highway tunnel in India will resume today after the arrival of essential machinery. It happened after a landslide on Sunday had trapped the workers 200 meters from the entrance. On Friday, rescue efforts were interrupted after a machine became damaged as experts desperately drilled through rubble to reach the group. They are planning to create an escape tunnel, using pipes welded together to allow workers to crawl to their freedom. Of the 60 meters needed to lay the pipe for the escape route, only 24 meters have been dug thus far, authorities have reported. With the operation now stretching into its first week, families of those trapped say they are frustrated with the lack of progress. Food, water and medicines are reportedly being sent to the trapped workers via a pipe every two hours. Earlier in the week, some of the workers felt fever and body aches, but officials say there has been no deterioration in their condition. State officials have also contacted Thai experts who helped rescue a youth soccer team trapped in a cave in Thailand in 2018, for assistance. #Indiatunnel #india #breaking #uttarakhand Subscribe here: http://bit.ly/ODNsubs TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@ondemandnews Twitter: https://twitter.com/ODN Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ODN/ If you wish to purchase any of our clips for commercial use, please visit: http://www.itnproductions.co.uk/news/
