As students pursue an education in technical trades or science, they can now look to a “really exciting career” building Australia’s future nuclear-powered submarines, according to Defence Minister Richard Marles. Mr Marles said students can look forward to their careers with a “much greater sense of optimism and certainty” with a training academy set to be built in South Australia, at the Osborne Naval Shipyard. “This academy is going to provide training in all the skills necessary to build a submarine from specialist welding to pipe fitting through the electrical trade,” he said. “A seamless transition from the classroom to the workplace.”
