Sky News host Peta Credlin has identified a “fatal flaw” in the Voice to Parliament referendum process. In the initial stages of the Voice proposal, the government spoke with Indigenous communities about what recognition might mean to them. She said that was meant to lead into conversations with non-Indigenous Australians about that idea and taken forward with jurists and legislators. “The problem is when Malcolm Turnbull came in, we only had the Aboriginal consultation, we never had a consultation with the Australian public, they have had that in the past few months,” she said. Ms Credlin added that this is the first time in about eight years non-Aboriginal Australians have had their say. “That has been a fatal flaw in the process.”
