'Grenades and Assault Rifles Seized in Prison Raids as Honduras Gang Violence Escalates' Honduran authorities have launched a series of huge prison raids. Security forces marched prisoners out of their cells while they searched for contraband. Police report they seized assault rifles, grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. The raids follow a recent spike in gang related violence in Honduras. Last week 46 female inmates were killed in their prison, after gang members broke into their cell block, shooting them and setting the area on fire. And on Saturday at least 11 people were shot dead at a pool hall in the North West of the country.
