Australian expat tears up as husband leaves to serve in Israeli forces

Australian Israel resident Hayley Alpern discusses how her husband was called up to serve in the Israeli forces on the morning of his 30th birthday. It comes after Palestinian terrorist group Hamas launched attacks on Israel on Saturday. “This is unprecedented – they’re saying that it’s the most amount of Jews killed in a day since the Holocaust,” Ms Alpern told Sky News host James Macpherson. Ms Alpern said there are many stories emerging of Israeli civilians locking their children in safe rooms as they tried to fight Hamas terrorists. She said no one knows what will happen next with the unprecedented attacks as her husband leaves to serve in the Israeli forces. “I’ve been very lucky that I was able to drive up north and be gifted nappies and wipes for my little one while I send videos to my husband and hope he can see it in the midst of his patrolling.”
