Attempts to water down the Voice to Parliament rejected

An attempt by Attorney General Mark Dreyfus's to water down the proposed Indigenous Voice, to parliament's executive government powers, has been rejected. The Attorney General's suggestion was rejected by Aboriginal leaders of the government's own referendum working group. Mr.Dreyfus's suggestion for an alternative to the use of executive government in the proposed amendment was seen as an overreach.
