Mother and toddler saved from floodwaters in dramatic rescue

The death toll from devastating floods that hit parts of Italy rose to eight last night, with the body of one victim swept 12 miles down a river to the Adriatic coast. Dramatic images showed shocked locals swimming through floodwaters which inundated towns and villages across the two regions. A woman and her toddler, who were caught in deep floodwaters, were rescued by locals who had to swim to reach them.
