Over 1,300 Israeli civilians have just been massacred. While the population thought it was safe behind its walls, its iron dome and its barbed wire, protected by its invincible army, the country is undergoing an unprecedented attack. At the helm is a terrorist group: Hamas. An Islamist faction that no one, least of all Israeli believed capable of such an operation. So who are these men, with their green bandanas, capable of such atrocities? Who are the organization’s supporters? How did they manage to plan this attack?
With the help of leading experts, we investigate the rise of Hamas. Founded in the late 80s from Muslim resistance groups, the organisation won popular legitimacy in Gaza. We investigate its leaders, in particular the coordinator of the “al-Aqsa flood” attack: Mohammed Deïf. The Israeli security services have been tracking him relentlessly for three decades. The other mastermind of the organization is Ismaël Haniyeh, head of the political bureau. He has taken refuge in Qatar.
Thanks to the testimonies of former members of the Israeli intelligence services, we reveal the methods that enabled Hamas to slip under the radar of the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service: underground caches, a network of dozens of kilometers of tunnels, old-fashioned communications, homemade rockets and also the use of modern technologies, such as drones and cyberattacks.
According to its former director, Ami Ayalon, the Shin Beth had relied solely on electronic surveillance to the detriment of human intelligence. We reveal the financial support Hamas received to carry out this operation. For years, the Iranians have been the terrorist movement’s main allies in its fight against Israel. In Lebanon, we interviewed a senior Hamas official who, a few days after the massacre, was delighted with the success of the operation.
We also look at the role of Qatar, which finances the movement to the tune of $30 million a month. per month. The terrorist nebula also relies on appeals for donations in crypto-currencies. The sums collected are enormous, more than $100 million between 2021 and 2023. Our investigation will finally take a closer look at the movement from the inside, and analyze its hold on the Gazan population. A population that has been imprisoned for years on this tiny strip of land, living in part under the yoke of the by the Islamist organization.
In Egypt, we caught up with a Hamas opponent who fled Gaza in 2021 after spending two hundred days in the terrorist group’s jails. He tells us about the group’s hold over the civilian population, the recruitment of young people and the terrorist group’s propaganda methods.

For years, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk have squabbled in the media over everything from who is the wealthiest to who did what first. But their rival space programmes, satellite launches and plans to colonise the planets have launched a new Space Age.
With his company, Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos has thrown himself into space tourism and, in doing so, has revolutionised access to Space. He sees himself as the leader in this burgeoning ’New Space’ market. But he faces a determined opponent: Elon Musk, the eccentric head of SpaceX. Musk’s company has already disrupted the traditional aerospace launch industry and now he’s aiming for Mars.
When Musk first tried to buy a Russian rocket back in 2001, the chief engineer of the Russian Space Agency thought he was a joke. But that only made Musk more determined. Rather than buy rockets, he decided to build them and invested $100 million dollars, half his fortune at the time, in the creation of SpaceX. By 2008 SpaceX had a contract with NASA to supply flights to the International Space Station.
At around the same time Musk was founding SpaceX, Jeff Bezos was working on a secretive project to bring tourists to space. By 2015, he was ready to go public with a new rocket named the New Shepherd, the first reusable rocket to reach space. A year later, Musk announced an ambitious, widely ridiculed, plan to colonise Mars within 30 years. In the meantime, Bezos was working on plans to colonise the moon. When competition with China made returning to the moon a top priority for President Trump, there was one big question: which company would get the lucrative NASA moon contract?
Aside from colonising space and NASA contracts, the two billionaires are also racing to launch the most satellites. This allows them to deliver low latency broadband data services everywhere on the Earth… and to monopolise all future terrestrial communications. Jeff Bezos recently announced the launch of Kuiper, his network of more than 3,000 satellites. Jeff Bezos recently announced the launch of Kuiper, his network of more than 3,000 satellites.
So where will it end? How far will this intensive commercialisation of space go? We investigate.

,1,The math is simple. We can emit 565 more gigatons of carbon dioxide and stay below 2°C of warming — anything more than that risks catastrophe for life on earth. The only problem? Burning the fossil fuel that corporations now have in their reserves would result in emitting 2,795 gigatons of carbon dioxide — five times the safe amount.
To raise awareness of this terrifying math and build a movement to challenge the fossil fuel industry, bestselling author and environmental activist Bill McKibben and 350.org, the organization
he founded, went coast to coast for one of the most critical road-shows there has ever been.
DO THE MATH serves as a much needed correction to industry spin and deliberate misinformation about the climate crisis, and shows how an unprecedented global movement is rising up to keep CO2 emissions down.

,1,Road accidents, fires, murders, shootings and police chases… US news channels are dedicating more and more airtime to covering these events. Every evening, hundreds of professionals go scoop hunting. Their goal: to capture the most sensational stories in images to feed the continuous news channels that love these news items. To achieve this, there is only one solution: be on the alert all night aboard a vehicle over-equipped with radios connected to the various police, fire and sheriff departments. A relentless hunt that can bring a lot to these night men up to 20,000 dollars a month…
One of the favorite playgrounds of these scoop hunters is Los Angeles. With an average of 150 accidents per day, 749 car chases and 394 murders, the city has become the emblematic place for races with shocking images. Zak Holman has become the king of night reporters. At 33, he has created a veritable empire here.
And to stay at the top, he does not hesitate to take all the risks: chases at more than 200 km/h on the highway, fires and shootings… Nothing stops him. Every evening, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the man covers about ten calls for a minimum loot of $2,000.
At his side, Jack Reynolds, his employee and friend. Trained by the best, this young 29-year-old reporter has smelled the right story that he can sell for several hundred dollars. With a dismal highway crash and a globally broadcast shootout with star rapper Kodak Black, Jack hits the mark.
On the other side of town, Jamie Araki, is trying somehow to find a place for herself in this ultra-competitive and above all, very dangerous environment. Every evening, the 22-year-old young woman takes big risks alone in her car in the heart of the riskiest neighborhoods of the city.
In Texas, in San Antonio, business is booming for Ken Branca. At 41, he is the town reporter. In 10 years, he has seen everything, filmed everything. He specialises in shooting news reports. This year, Ken is twice as busy. He has covered fifty stories in the past two months.
We followed these extreme scoop chasers for months to record the stories behind the stories.

,1,The decision not to extradite Julian Assange to the United States is unlikely to be the end of his long struggle.
For the past 10 years, Premiere Lignes has investigated Assange and the WikiLeaks network. In their first film in 2011, they interviewed Julian Assange and his team and profiled these new transparency activists who aim to disrupt citizens’ relationship with information. In 2013, they met Julian Assange again, interviewing him in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he described a society petrified by authoritarian excesses that he felt obliged to confront. At the time, Assange had no idea that he was going to spend seven years between four walls, watched by surveillance cameras.
During the past decade, WikiLeaks has come under constant pressure from the U.S. government. But the site continued to publish compromising documents that illuminate and shape our world. In 2016, its interventions in the US elections played a crucial role in the election of Donald Trump. In 2017, it tried to similarly influence the French election.
Throughout all these years, the Première Lignes team continued to investigate, regularly filming new interviews. They met with Julian Assange’s father, who regularly goes to Belmarsh prison near London, where his son is imprisoned. They also spoke to his lawyers who denounce Assange’s arbitrary detention.
Today, Julian Assange and WikiLeaks are at a turning point in their history. For his detractors, Assange is a spy and traitor who deserves his fate. For his supporters, the extradition request is a serious and unprecedented attack on the freedom of information, protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Who’s to say The Guardian, Der Spiegel or Le Monde could not also be prosecuted for collaborating with WikiLeaks?

In one year, food prices have jumped 500% due to galloping inflation.
For Riad, who runs a grocery store in the suburbs of Beirut, business has become hellish. Every morning, calculator in hand, he changes the labels of his products according to the day’s exchange rate. An operation all the more complex as his store is plunged into darkness, due to lack of electricity. The Lebanese government no longer provides more than two hours of electricity per day in the country. It is impossible for the population to heat, light or use their refrigerator. Taking advantage of the situation, a network of private generators has emerged.
The Lebanese pound, the local currency, has lost 90% of its value. The only ones to get away with it are those who are paid in dollars. The greenback, which is exchanged for a fortune against the local currency, has given birth to a new privileged social class in the country. A salesman in an international pharmaceutical company, Joseph lives like a king in a ruined Lebanon. Thanks to his new purchasing power, he repaid his house loan in two months, instead of… twenty years!
In a bankrupt state, plagued by corruption, six out of ten Lebanese citizens now dream of leaving the country. In Tripoli, in northern Lebanon, Mohammed and his son left by sea to reach Germany. Although their trip was cut short off the Turkish coast, the young father is still ready to take all the risks to reach the European El Dorado.

,1,In May 2016, the renowned elephant researcher Ian Redmond is unexpectedly attacked by an angry elephant in the middle of a Kenyan mountain forest. He survives and his injuries mostly heal. But what remains is the question: Why did the matriarch he calls Kali attack him?
Since the 1980s, Ian Redmond has been researching an unusual and endangered elephant population in the Mount Elgon area. This population, of which the matriarch Kali is a member, consists of savannah elephants that have adapted to living in the mountain forests, where they are now isolated after humans took their surrounding habitat away from them. The animals seek out hidden caves at night to chisel mineral-rich volcanic rock off the walls with their tusks, thereby expanding these subterranean salt-mines into enormous chambers. This underground behaviour is unique among elephants.
What is behind this mysterious mining activity of the animals? Ian Redmond desires nothing more than to meet Kali again. In his search of her, he comes closer to answering the question of why she attacked him and to uncovering the secrets of the cave elephants.

,1,Karl Marx was many things: philosopher, journalist, economist and historian. In many ways, he was a modern renaissance man. His revolutionary ideas, though, are his legacy. They have literally changed the world. His far-reaching analyses and theories have inspired millions of people to become politically active. 2018 marks the 200th anniversary of his birthday. After the collapse of many socialist regimes, Marx seemingly became less popular. But when the big financial crisis hit in 2008, his ideas re-emerged in many places: at universities, conventions, cultural television programs, even in churches. 200 years after his birth, Marx’s beliefs aren’t forgotten. We uncover the developments in society that were actually inspired by Marx – and there are many. From the Russian Revolution, the founding of the German socialist party, the long trek of Mao Zedong in China, the implementation of socialism in all of Eastern Europe after World War II, to the revolutionary movements in Latin America and Cuba. Karl Marx might be the most influential thinker of all time.

,1,As the role of American women in uniform brings them continually closer to combat operations and the nature of modern war blurs the difference between front and rear operations, many returning women veterans are confronted with challenges during deployment which may change the way they return to life at home.
When women veterans return from tour, they are faced with the challenge of re-adapting to life at home while dealing with issues such as PTSD, physical disabilities, anxiety attacks, homelessness, and disenfranchised families. HOMECOMING has these women speak for themselves about their trials and tribulations, their hopes and dreams, their frustrations and achievements. HOMECOMING tells the stories of these women veterans’ wives and mothers as they navigate the new battlefield...THE HOME-FRONT.
These “home” war stories will resonate for years to come. Does the system support them? How is it different from what the men face? Do they serve another deployment? How do they stay in touch with their team that is still serving? The purpose of this documentary is to highlight women whose bond and spirit will not be broken.
They aren’t broken; they are heroes. We want a grateful America to understand how to best appreciate and help these women warriors. These women have extraordinary discipline, courage, and capacity - that’s what we can focus on.

,1,Victim of a terrible famine in the early 1960s that killed nearly 20 million people, China is now facing a new scourge: obesity. 100 million Chinese people are overweight. Although it is a disease particularly prevalent among adolescents, affecting 20% of boys and 10% of girls, even babies are being born at more than six kilos. A phenomenon never before seen in the country’s history.
Expansion and economic growth have changed the lifestyles of Chinese people, who are now consuming more and more Western-style food. Traditional Chinese food, which is generally quite healthy, has been replaced by “junk food” and the portions have doubled or even tripled. The overconsumption of fat and sugar coupled with sedentary lifestyles and the one-child policy have caused rates of obesity to skyrocket. The Chinese authorities are tackling this epidemic with former prison camps for overweight people run by soldiers. Television shows, smartphone applications, doctors and nutritionists are encouraging the entire nation to get into shape.
In this documentary, we visit China to explain why obesity rates are rising, and how weight loss has become a national issue. How has China progressed from a starving country at the beginning of the 21st century to having one of the highest obesity rates in the world?

,1,National Route 5a bears the national designation merely in title. Describing the stretch that links Ambilobe in the northwest to Vohémar in the northeast would be an account of a 160 km pathway aptly coined as 'the track from hell.' Particularly challenging during the rainy months of January and February, this route transforms into a daunting obstacle course. What is typically a two to three-day journey can easily extend to more than 15 days, featuring ruts, mud pools, and sections too narrow for simultaneous passage of two trucks – a factor rendering it impractical for buses.
Despite its arduous nature, RN 5 is the sole conduit to the vanilla coast along the Indian Ocean's edge. A considerable drawback for the entire Northern region, a key economic hub in the country, as the road's subpar condition hampers the transportation of vanilla and various minerals abundant in the area. The predicament with RN 5 arises from neglect in maintenance, with the road deteriorating progressively. This vital economic axis appears forgotten by the state, further compounded by the wear inflicted by large cargo vehicles, resulting in potholes and numerous deviations. The deplorable state of the road profoundly impacts life in the region; for instance, farmers resort to using dhows (boats) to transport their produce to ensure sales in the capital.

Here, sun and rain clouds battle for supremacy, icy winds twist their way through the leathery leaves of lobelia, and when the night brings frost, there is nothing that reminds you of the Africa most commonly known.
This film tells the dramatic story of Megeti, a lone wolf who lost her pack and is suddenly left to fend for herself, wandering across the highlands on a quest to find a new home.
It is vital for the young wolf to find a new family and this quest pushes her into foreign territory, occupied by cattle breeders and other wolves. Her attempts to be accepted into a new pack are risky, but the better hunting grounds and group protection are too tempting.
Following Megeti’s daily efforts to connect with a new pack, the camera captures a variety of moments with depth and sensitivity, eventually arriving at the moment when the wolf’s perseverance is rewarded. However, the success story doesn’t last long and when an unwelcome guest arrives, the narrative takes a dramatic turn.

In its dense forests and intricate water systems, riberinhos, or river dwellers, cross paths with the garimpeiros, gold hunters. Riberinhos eke out a living from the boats that ply the rivers. Paddling out to meet the river traffic in small homemade canoes, they risk death by trying to fasten onto the often fast-moving boats. Remarkably, many are children, aged as young as five, who try and sell jungle delicacies for a few pennies to passengers and crew. Often, their families depend on them to make ends meet. Jesse’s family, for example. The 14-year-old youngster learned how to swim and handle a canoe almost before he could walk. Jesse turned to crime, in a desperate attempt to escape grinding poverty, and was shot and killed by a crewmember on board a barge he was trying to rob.
