Yesterday I received this question again: are Western sanctions actually working or not? This livestream I'll be walking around Moscow and try to explain what I think about that. First of all, one thing amazes me: what people actually mean when they ask about "sanctions working or not"? I tried to talk to a few friends, and ask my subscribers - and then realised that it's a complicated thing to talk about. But I'll try to share my opinion today. Short answer - well yes, but actually no. I live in St Petersburg, and I clearly see that sanctions have some effect on our daily life here. Some things just disappeared from market, some things got a bit or a lot more expensive, there are also more complications with international traveling for Russians. But would you call this result "working sanctions"? Although economic situation in Russia isn't that good, people tend to say that everything is kinda alright and they "will survive". This is an interesting bit of Russian culture. Watch this livestream and let me explain what I mean. While walking Moscow's most central area. 🍿 WATCH NEXT - Life in Russia Under Sanctions: Food Prices and Empty (?)
