Worked example problem on the conservation of mechanical energy. You are encouraged to challenge and test your knowledge by first attempting the problem and then comparing your answer.

A cart with a mass of 10 kg is initially at rest. It then rolls along a frictionless surface from points A to B. The cart then travels along a surface from B to C with a kinetic friction coefficient of 0.5. Calculate the dissipated energy at point C as a percentage of the kinetic energy at point B.
