The Albanese government is concerned with Australia’s “energy security” future but is failing to acknowledge its need for “food security”, says Victorian Farmers Federation President Emma Germano. Ms Germano’s comments come after the AEMO began telling Victorian farmers to sign over land access rights to them in exchange for $10,000, in order to develop a 400km power line project. “We’re not vacant land, we have farms, we have businesses, we have livelihood sitting underneath what are going to be proposed transmission towers and transmission lines and that needs to be taken into consideration,” MS Germano told Sky News host Amanda Stoker. “The number one thing here is these renewable targets and ultimately if we continue to see this level of pushback from the community, I do say that they will miss those targets. “We have to plan this otherwise we are going to fail.”
