Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee convene a hearing about whether to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, they say, over his not enforcing immigration and border security laws. A dozen House Republicans vote 'no' on a procedural resolution in protest of the government funding agreement Speaker Mike Johnson – a Republican – hammered out with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer – Democrat, defeating that resolution and preventing debate on the House Republican leadership's agenda this week. Campaign 2024: Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie suspends his campaign, while fellow candidates Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy meet voters at events in Iowa, ahead of Monday's first-in-the-nation caucuses. Reaction from the State Department and White House after the U.S. Navy shoots down over 20 missiles and drones launched from Yemen by Iranian-backed Houthi militants.
