British actress and singer Jane Birkin, a 1960s and 70s style icon who rose to fame singing in French and was later associated with an eponymous high-end handbag, was found dead at her home in Paris on Sunday at the age of 76. In sharing the news of her death, the French Culture Ministry said the country had lost a “timeless Francophone icon.” The singer was known for her musical and romantic relationship with French singer Serge Gainsbourg, with whom she sang the sexually explicit “Je T’Aime… Moi Non Plus” (“I Love You… Me Neither”).
